No. No dentist, dental chain, insurer, or manufacturer can pay to be listed, ranked, or recommended on Tennessee Dental Authority, or to have criticism removed. Our methodology page explains the rules we hold ourselves to.

Our Tennessee private-pay estimates are $75 to $250 for an exam, cleaning, and X-rays; $900 to $2,100 for a crown; $700 to $1,600 for a root canal (crown usually extra); $3,300 to $5,800 for a complete single implant; and $1,500 to $4,000 for full upper and lower dentures. Yes. Since January 1, 2023, TennCare has covered dental care for all adult members at no cost for medically necessary services, including cleanings, fillings, crowns, root canals, extractions, and dentures. Implants are generally not covered. Call Renaissance at 866-864-2526 to find a dentist.

Original Medicare doesn't cover routine dental care such as cleanings, fillings, extractions, or dentures, except when dental care is tied to certain covered medical treatment. Most Medicare Advantage plans include some dental coverage, usually with annual dollar caps and 50% coinsurance for major work.

Tennessee's dental schools (UTHSC in Memphis, Meharry in Nashville, and LMU in Knoxville) offer supervised care at reduced fees. County health departments and community health centers charge by income, and Remote Area Medical holds free clinics. TennCare members already have no-cost coverage.
